(11/1/07)  Typically, residents pay money to Amherst, as is fresh in the minds of all who just made their quarterly property tax payments.  But some receive checks from Amherst, and apparently, don’t always cash them.  In accordance with Massachusetts General Law, various attempts to notify the holders of such un-cashed checks must be made before the money is deemed “abandoned” and returned to the Town’s general fund.
